Technical practice, connected to the business of working in a salon.
Talnova Hair is our specialist hair and barbering education, part of the wider Talnova academy. It brings together apprenticeships, technique development and the business skills that help stylists and salons thrive.
Learning is practical. You watch a technique demonstrated, practise it with an educator guiding you, and get honest feedback on your work. Alongside the craft, we talk about the things that make a career: consultations, client experience, rebooking, pricing and showing your work.
Find out what the work involves and how an apprenticeship could get you started.
Structured training at work and at the academy, with support for you and your salon employer.
Masterclasses in specific cutting, colour, styling and barbering techniques.
A conversation about where you are now, then refresher options that suit you.
Developing your team, mentoring apprentices and building a stronger salon business.
Level 2 and Level 3 routes for people employed in a salon or barbershop. You learn on the salon floor and with us.
Focused sessions on a particular technique for people with existing skills.
We start with a conversation about your experience and recommend sensible refresher learning.
Team management, client experience, commercial awareness and mentoring apprentices.
Photography, video, social media planning, online reviews and the responsible use of client images.
A planned programme for newly qualified and independent stylists. Register your interest.
Practical courses list their entry level, any kit you need, whether materials are included and whether you need to bring a model. A short workshop develops a technique; it doesn’t on its own qualify you to offer every service independently.
Yes. An apprenticeship is built around paid work, so you’ll need to be employed in a salon or barbershop. If you’re looking for one, register your interest and we’ll let you know about suitable roles.
Most masterclasses are for people who already have the foundations. Each one lists its entry requirements. If you’re just starting out, a taster or an apprenticeship is a better first step.
Practical sessions take place in the dedicated hair and barber training spaces at our Leeds academy, with apprentices also learning in their own salon.
Model opportunities, where we offer them, are arranged separately with their own terms. Ask us and we’ll tell you what’s currently available.
